Support for small business

Disaster loans for small businesses, primary producers and not-for-profits 

Small businesses, primary producers and not-for-profits impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred in South East Queensland can now apply for concessional loans to support their recovery. 

Available loans:

  • Disaster Assistance Loans up to $250,000 for eligible small businesses and primary producers and up to $100,000 for eligible not-for-profits will cover the repair or replacement of damaged equipment and infrastructure, and restocking. 
  • Essential Working Capital Loans up to $100,000 are available to help business operations continue, including paying salaries or wages, creditors, rent or rates.
  • Freight subsidies up to $5,000 are also available to impacted primary producers to move stock or produce, or to have essential supplies delivered to their farms.

Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business are standing up Small Business Recovery Hubs at Logan Village Community Centre on:

  • Tuesday 18 March
  • Thursday 20 March
  • Tuesday 25 March
  • Thursday 27 March

These will operate from 9:30am to 2:30pm.

Recovery support for small businesses

If your small business was impacted by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, support is available to help you navigate the recovery process.

The Small Business Financial Counselling Service (SBFCS) Southern Queensland offers free, impartial and confidential recovery support to small business owners in Southern Queensland, including:

  • immediate help to identify and access available funding
  • support to develop your recovery plan
  • longer term assistance to increase business resilience.

Free wellness support for small businesses

Recovering from a cyclone is challenging, but you don’t have to face it alone. Free and confidential mental health and wellbeing support is available to help small business owners navigate the recovery process and move forward positively.

Work one-on-one with a qualified Business Wellness Coach to:

  • reduce and manage mental health or emotional wellbeing stress
  • improve your overall wellbeing
  • develop strategies for the future.

As qualified mental health and wellbeing professionals with a background in business, Wellness Coaches understand the unique challenges of disaster recovery and provide practical, compassionate support, tailored to your needs.
