Funding frequently asked questions
How is the service provider fee determined?
A service provider fee of up to $60 per hour is available. Providers determine the fee during the application process. When choosing an amount, it is important to consider the level of funding required to successfully deliver the activity. Value for money is closely considered by the Active & Healthy team when programming activities.
What happens to the fee paid by participants at my activity?
The agreed participant fee is paid by participants directly to the provider on arrival to the activity. Any participant fees collected are retained by the provider.
What happens if the class I want to deliver is more or less than an hour?
The provider fee available will be proportionate to the delivery time of the activity e.g. a 30 minute activity would receive up to $30 per hour.
Am I eligible for venue hire reimbursement?
Activities delivered in a community facility or Council Community Centre may be eligible to have venue hire costs reimbursed. The program gives preference to the use of Council parks and community facilities when programming activities. Activity delivery locations and any associated venue hire costs will be negotiated with the Community Programming Officer. No venue hire will be paid for activities delivered in your place of business.
The reimbursement amount for venue hire is at Council’s discretion. Venue hire costs vary greatly and our Community Programming Officer can help with cost estimates and placement of activities. Providers will need to confirm venue suitability, availability, and arrange booking of the venue only once an application is approved, and directed by the Community Programming Officer, prior to signing a contract.
Any payment agreed to be made for venue hire will be reimbursed by Council to the provider at the end of each quarterly block.
Am I eligible for pool hire reimbursement?
Activities delivered in a pool facility may be eligible to have pool hire costs reimbursed. A detailed summary of the pool hire costs incurred will be asked during the application process. The final reimbursement amount for pool hire is at Council’s discretion. Providers will need to confirm venue suitability, availability, and arrange the pool or lane booking once directed by the Community Programming Officer, prior to signing a contract.
Any payment agreed to be made for pool hire will be reimbursed by Council to the provider at the end of each quarterly block.
Am I eligible for reimbursement of consumables for my cooking program?
Cooking workshops may be eligible for reimbursement of consumable costs. A detailed cost breakdown of consumables must be provided to Council as part of the application process for consideration by the Community Programming Officer. The types of consumable items that can be claimed are food/pantry items like ingredients, alfoil, paper towels, and any other consumable products that need to be purchased and then replaced after the activity. Council will not fund kitchen equipment or infrastructure through the Active & Healthy program.
Any payment agreed to be made for cooking workshop consumables will be reimbursed by Council to the provider at the end of each quarterly block.
What is an allied health professional?
Allied health professionals are university qualified practitioners with specialised expertise in preventing, diagnosing, and treating a range of conditions and illnesses. Examples of allied health professionals may include physiotherapists, dietitians, and exercise physiologists.
To receive an allied health subsidy, the facilitator must be delivering the programmed activity as an allied health professional. This facilitator must provide their allied health university qualification. The request to receive an allied health subsidy must be made during the application process.
Is a travel subsidy available?
Travel subsidies are no longer available for activities delivered in regional areas. Travel subsidies may be offered to providers by Council to help cover significant travel costs to fill a specific identified community need that would otherwise be unfilled.
