The safest place for most City of Logan residents when rain and wind associated with Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred happens is your home.
If you cannot remain at your home, please make arrangements to stay with family or friends in the first instance.
Evacuation centres
An evacuation centre is open at the Logan Metro Sports and Events Centre (357 Browns Plains Road, Crestmead) for those in need of emergency accommodation.
The centre is providing:
- Beds
- Toilets and showers
- Food, tea and coffee
Please bring:
- Toiletries
- Linen (towels, sheets, pillows etc)
The centre will not be able to accept or house animals or pets. Helpful information about keeping your pets safe during an emergency is available at Protect your pet.
Assistance animals are welcome.
Temporary ‘drop in’ places of refuge
We have established temporary 'drop in' places of refuge at:
- Jimboomba’s Caddies Community Centre, 19-33 South Street, Jimboomba. Opening hours:
- Sunday, 9 March - 9:00am to 9:00pm
- Monday 10 March - 8:00am to 9:00pm
- Bethania Community Centre, 88-118 Station Road, Bethania,This centre will change hours from Monday, March 10 to 7:00am to 7:00pm (was previously open 24 hours)
- Logan Village Lions Club, 21-23 Wharf Street, Logan Village. Open 7:00am to 7:00pm.
- Council’s Libraries at Beenleigh, Jimboomba, Logan Central, Logan North, Logan West and Marsden will be open from 9:00am, Monday, March 10. Residents can charge their phones and devices and access Wi-Fi, computers and printing services.
These are centres where residents can recharge phones or devices, grab a tea or coffee and take a break. They are not set up to accommodate overnight stays.
