Project overview

We are delivering a major stormwater upgrade across Rochedale South.

Latest update

We are now progressing the next stage of the Woodlands Drive master drainage upgrade.

 

Works in Glengala Drive, Woodlands Drive and Lancelot Streets started in October 2024. These activities are expected to complete by March 2025, subject to weather and site conditions.

We are investing in local neighbourhoods with new and upgraded roads, parks and drainage. The Woodlands Drive master drainage upgrade means better storm protection for properties in Rochedale South during future wet weather events. These works are part of Council’s $124.5m Capital Works Program.

Project timeline

Works on the Woodlands Drive master drainage upgrade commenced in 2020. This complex upgrade is being delivered in stages across multiple streets.

Works in Glengala Drive, Lancelot Street and Woodlands Drive are expected to commence in October 2024.

Works from October 2024 Glengala Drive (Tandara Street to Jacana Street). Lancelot Street (Monica Street to Underwood Road). Woodlands Drive (Lancelot Street to Glengala Drive).
Completed works Woodlands Park rectification works  . Lancelot Street (Woodlands Drive to Maria Circuit). William Street (Landsborough Street to Woodlands Drive). Woodlands Drive (Hartog Place to Lancelot Street).
Future works Devon Street (Woodlands Drive to Winston Street). Gable Street (Winston Street to Belconnen Street). Winston Street (Kingsley Street to Underwood Road). Woodlands Drive (Hartog Street to Underwood Road). and Trevelloe Street (Kingsley Street to Amanda Street).


Project features

The upgrade includes:

  • stormwater drainage outlet improvements at Woodlands Park
  • landscaping at Woodlands Park
  • replacing sections of kerb and footpaths (where required)
  • reconstruction of some residential driveways (where required)
  • removing vegetation and tree trimming around the work zone (where required)
  • associated works including relocation of services and restoration activities.

Project benefits

The stormwater upgrade will deliver a range of benefits, including:

  • building a more resilient and reliable stormwater network
  • allowing stormwater to drain more efficiently
  • helping protect people and property.

Project impacts

We will make every effort to minimise disruption, however some temporary impacts can be expected, such as:

  • changed traffic conditions including reduced speed limits, road / lane closures and detours (as needed)
  • increased noise, dust, and vibration
  • changes to street parking and restricted driveway access 
  • footpath closures and bus route detours (changes will be signed).

Motorists are encouraged to plan their journey and allow extra travel time. We thank you for your cooperation while we complete these essential works.
