Temporary food stalls are used to prepare and sell food at occasional events like fairs, festivals, markets and school fetes, usually lasting a couple of hours or a few days in a row. Food stalls often play an important role at these events by offering a variety of tasty and exotic foods.
Food stalls operate for short periods and sometimes in remote locations, making it impractical to connect to permanent fixtures such as gas, town water and the sewerage system.
Instead, a food stall licensee must transport all food, water and equipment to the event, set up for the event and then dismantle and take everything home following the event.
Because a food stall is temporary, licensees must take extra care to sell only safe and suitable food.
