Changing the way we use resources, generate waste and dispose of waste can have benefits for the environment and save us money. Here are some ways to make changes to the waste we create and where it goes:
- Buy a compost bin or worm farm and turn your food waste into mulch and fertiliser for the garden, instead of putting it in your general waste bin. Council offers compost rebates to our residents.
- Use your recycling bin or other recycling options to recycle as much of your waste materials as possible.
- Drop off re-usable items at the Logan Recycling Market for reuse by others.
- Repair broken items rather than replacing them if possible.
- Think about ways you can reduce your waste when you work, shop and play, and buy only what you need.
- Opt for products with little or no packaging or packaging that can be reused or recycled.
