Description

Roads tight? Park right. Narrow road rules.

Council deems a road to be narrow when it measures less than 6 metres from edge of bitumen.

Certain rules apply when parking on narrow roads.

Leave at least 3 metres of clear roadway beside your car.

This ensures emergency service vehicles can safely pass through.

This may require two wheels up or being parked fully on the verge. Both are accepted on a narrow road.

Always park parallel to the kerb, facing the direction of travel.

Parking on grass, or with two wheels up is acceptable.

Leave at least 1.2 metres of space between your car and the adjacent property boundary.

Do not block driveways, mailboxes, utilities or bins.

Do not park at an angle to the kerb.

Park at least 3 metres away from dividing line and dividing strip.

Do not block the footpath or pedestrian access.

This includes grass verges, nature strips and footpaths.

Make sure to park within the property boundary, behind the mailbox.

Do not park at intersections, in no-stopping zones, on yellow lines or in bus zones.

These rules apply for all vehicles.

Fines apply for illegal parking.

Remember, safe parking may save a life.
