Park infrastructure planning

The population of Logan City is growing. Residential areas are expanding, density is increasing, and new centres are being developed including the Priority Development Areas (PDAs) of Greater Flagstone and Yarrabilba.

Parks, along with roads, water, sewer, stormwater infrastructure and land for community facilities, are defined as trunk infrastructure under the Desired Standards of Service as recorded in the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP), located within Logan Planning Scheme 2015.

The park network encompasses a range of park types, including recreation parks, sport parks, cemeteries, natural areas and others, all of which provide a vital role in the liveability and ecological sustainability of the city.

The development of the Park Infrastructure Plan 2024 highlighted the diverse challenges and opportunities faced by and available to the City of Logan. To fully respond to these challenges and opportunities requires a comprehensive review of the Logan City Council’s parks. That review should be undertaken in consultation with the community and elected representatives.

This plan represents an interim update to the adopted Parks Strategy 2014 to 2026. The document will play an important role in supporting the more comprehensive review planned for 2024 and 2025 that will guide the ongoing planning and management of the park network throughout Logan.
