Our waterways
Major waterways in Logan include the Logan River and the Albert River. These rivers are an important part of our city’s landscape and heritage.
Kayaking, fishing, bird-watching and picnicking are popular ways to enjoy our rivers. The fish caught in our rivers include Australian bass, bream, flathead and sea mullet. Platypus live in the Albert River, and many other animals call the rivers home.
You can explore our rivers by visiting riverside parks, including:
- Skinners Park, Carbrook
- Logan River Parklands, Beenleigh
- Alexander Clark Park, Loganholme
- Riverdale Park, Meadowbrook
- Larry Storey Park, Waterford
- Lions Riverside Park, Jimboomba
- Eagleby Wetlands, Eagleby
- Albert River Park, Eagleby
- Alberta Park, Wolfdene
- Carter Park, Bannockburn.
Please help us to care for our rivers, creeks and wetlands by not dumping rubbish, weeds or pet fish in the waterways.
Most of the large creeks in our city flow into the Logan River. These include Slacks Creek, Scrubby Creek, Quinzeh Creek, Chambers Creek and Undullah Creek.
Other major creeks flow into the Albert River. These include Belivah Creek, Collins Creek, Clutha Creek, Windaroo Creek and Flagstone Creek.
Oxley Creek is the only creek in Logan that flows into the Brisbane River.

Our wetlands
Our wetlands provide habitat for many migratory animals and some rare species. They also improve our water value and provide breeding areas for fish and other seafood.
There are about 200 wetlands located within Logan’s parks. The bird-watching and walking trails around our wetlands attract many park visitors.
