These works are aimed at reconstructing the road and drainage network in our city following the major rain event of 2022.
This project is jointly funded by Commonwealth and State Governments’ Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) for the Restoration of Essential Public Assets and the programs Betterment Fund.
What is happening?
We are delivering 110 meters of new storm water drain infrastructure between Murcot Street and Sylvia Street, Underwood.
Drain reconstruction works will include:
- Removal of existing concrete drain (where required)
- Re-shaping drain to new design
- Placement of pre-cast concrete block elements and drain base
- Pumping and pouring new concrete drain base
- Vegetation removal and tree trimming (where required)
- Boundary fence reconstruction (where required)
We have appointed a contractor, DOVAL Constructions to undertake these works.
When is it happening?
Main works will commence mid-July 2024 and are expected to be completed in October 2024, site and weather conditions permitting.
Works will generally occur Monday to Friday, between 6:00am to 6:00pm. Should works extend beyond these hours, we will notify affected residents.
Project impacts
- Changed traffic conditions including reduced speed limits, short term lane closure and detours (as needed).
- Increased noise, dust and vibration.
- Temporary disruption to boundary fencing. Affected residents will be notified in advance.
- Clearing of vegetation and tree trimming where required
