Logan City Council is announcing new flood risk mapping to help prepare our residents and businesses.

So flood mapping is the tool that we use to understand where we might have a flood risk for our community.

And that helps us to understand where we should and shouldn't put our new development.

So it's really important that we understand the levels of risk and we use the flood mapping to understand that.

The new mapping identifies four areas of flood risk.

Flood Risk Level. High. Moderate. Low. Very Low.

High. Moderate. Low, and very low. It also identifies areas that could become isolated during major floods.

Something that I have noticed in the most recent couple of years is Logan's attempt to improve the waterways. Whatever footprint you create, you're going to disturb something.

This will obviously identify future risks for us, with climate change happening, we must take that into account
