I am a resident of the Beenleigh area since 1986 and like many others here, I find immense value in our local heritage.
A few months ago the iconic long rail from the Doug Larsen Duck Park was removed during park upgrades with no plans to reinstate it .
This rail holds significance not only to us, the Beenleigh community but also resonates profoundly with the skateboarding communities. As a symbol of our youth culture and a testament to our long-standing sports tradition, the duck park rail has been an indispensable part of our community's identity. Its removal has dampened the spirits of the local and visiting skateboarders who used to enjoy their craft here.
For these credible reasons, we propose to reinstall this symbol of our history and culture. But instead of restoring it purely to its original location, we suggest repositioning the long rail to a location that has a consensus agreement among the community members.
Let's work together in preserving what truly defines us as a community. Join us in our quest to keep Beenleigh town an emblem of our authenticity, heritage and our deep-rooted love for all things local, including our skateboard subculture. Reinstating the iconic rail is a step towards maintaining a vibrant community and an enduring skating tradition.
