Extension of Innovation Way (between Green Road and Park Ridge Road)

We are working on the design to complete a new road connection between Green Road and Park Ridge Road.

Project overview

The new road will extend Innovation Way in a southerly direction, connecting with Park Ridge Road just west of Clarke Road. This is one of the many new road connections planned for Park Ridge, designed to alleviate pressure on the existing road network by supporting development growth and rising traffic demands.

Ongoing economic growth in Logan and the surrounding region necessitates upgrades to existing road infrastructure to ensure we are delivering a sustainable and reliable transport network for road users.

The extension of Innovation Way is designed to provide better north-south connectivity for Park Ridge Road users, helping to relieve congestion on local roads and improve travel times for residents. The introduction of a new signalised intersection with Park Ridge Road will enhance access to Park Ridge’s new industrial and mixed-use development areas, offering a safer, more efficient route for heavy vehicles travelling to and from the Crestmead Industrial Estate without compromising the amenity for other road users. The intersection with Park Ridge Road will form part of a future upgrade for the entire length of Park Ridge Road including more lanes, active transport and public transport facilities.

Latest update The detailed design stage is underway and discussions with residents impacted by land requirements has commenced.

Project timing

The project is now in the detailed design stage.

We will keep the community updated as we progress through the design process.

Project features

The design includes:

  • one vehicle travel lane in each direction
  • dedicated parking lanes on both sides of the road
  • active transport facilities with the installation of concrete footpaths on both sides of the road including shared path facilities for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as on-road cycle lanes.
  • kerb and channel as well as underground drainage to direct stormwater flows during storm events.
  • new signalised intersection with Park Ridge Road to facilitate safe turn movements, pedestrian crossing locations, cyclist facilities, traffic medians, lighting, and enhanced traffic flow.

Please note, the preliminary design is subject to change as detailed design progresses.

Project benefits

The Extension of Innovation Way will deliver a range of benefits, including:

  • Improved road capacity to accommodate future traffic growth
  • Better north-south connectivity for residential and industrial development in Park Ridge and surrounding suburbs
  • A boost to the economy - in the short term through the generation of construction jobs, and in the longer term by catering for future growth in development
  • Improved heavy vehicle movements and access without compromising the safety and amentity for other road users.
  • A new signalised intersection with Park Ridge road to facilitate safe turn movements and active transport crossing locations. This intersection will tie into a future upgrade of Park Ridge Road.
  • Active transport facilities with the installation of concrete footpaths on both sides of the road, including a 2.5m shared path facility for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as painted on-road cycle lanes.
  • Reduced risk of congestion and travel delays.

Land requirements

To complete the project, we will need to acquire land to extend Innovation Way through to Park Ridge Road, and to widen sections of Park Ridge Road.

We aim to minimise property impacts as much as possible.
