The upgrade will provide improved safety on Dennis Road at the intersections of Cinderella Drive, Barbaralla Drive and Onak Crescent in Springwood. These works are being delivered under Council’s 2020/21 Major Roads Intersection Upgrade program. They will provide improved sightlines and traffic flow in addition to more reliable travel times and a safer environment for vehicles, bike riders and pedestrians.

The project will be delivered in conjunction with the nearby Cinderella Drive Shared Path Upgrade.

Project timings

Works are expected to start in the first half of 2024 and be finished by late 2024, subject to weather and construction conditions.

Project features

The project will deliver:

  • new right turn lanes on Dennis Road
  • new traffic signals at two intersections
  • road resealing with new line marking
  • a link to the new shared concrete path on Cinderella Drive
  • new kerb and channel
  • installation of pedestrian ramps to provide smoother access between the road and path
  • relocated services, where required.

Project benefits

The Dennis Road Intersection Upgrade will deliver a range of benefits, including:

  • improved traffic flow and reduced congestion
  • more reliable travel times
  • improved sightlines
  • a safer environment for vehicles, bike riders and pedestrians.

Project impacts

We will make every effort to minimise disruption. Given the nature of the works, some temporary construction impacts can be expected, like:

  • changed traffic conditions, including reduced speed limits, road or lane closures and detours
  • disruption to driveway access (affected residents will be notified)
  • reduced street parking
  • footpath closures and bus stop relocations (all detours and changes will be signed)
  • disruption to water, sewerage and power services
  • removal of vegetation, including trees, where needed
  • increased noise, dust, and vibration.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their journey and allow extra travel time. We thank you for your cooperation and patience as we work to provide a safer, more resilient and reliable road network.
