You may need a development approval if you want to keep more poultry than an animal keeping approval allows. For more information please see Development in Logan.
Enclosure requirements
Preventing your poultry from escaping is an important part of being a responsible pet owner. Enclosures should be in a clean and tidy condition at all times.
Enclosures must:
- be at least 90 centimetres from the boundary of the property
- be at least 10 metres from a neighbouring dwelling (not including roosters and peafowl)
- be at least 30 metres from a neighbouring dwelling (for roosters and peafowl)
- have a minimum area of 1 square metre per bird
General requirements
As a responsible pet owner, you must make sure keeping the poultry does not cause:
- a build-up of animal faeces
- breeding or harbouring of flies or vermin
- damage to property
- harm to human health or safety
- nuisance
- disruption to a neighbour’s enjoyment
