Description
- Fast growing evergreen tree that can grow to 24 metres high, favours moist and wet areas, especially along creeks
- Broadly oval shaped leaves which are strongly veined, bronze when young, and deep glossy green when mature
- Large flat clusters of velvety, bronze to green buds and large orange to red flowers with yellow frilly edges
- Reddish to brown seed capsules can be up to 20 centimetres in length.

Control method
Stem Injection
Involves drilling or cutting downward sloping holes spaced about 5 centimetres apart through the bark into the sapwood tissue. Herbicide should be immediately (within 15 seconds) placed into the hole or cut.
Cut Stump
Involves lopping the weed close to the ground and then spraying the stump immediately (within 15 seconds) with herbicide to ensure absorption.
