Bins can be emptied any time between 6:00am and 6:00pm on your collection day. To avoid your bin being missed, ensure it is placed on the kerb away from any obstructions the night before.
Your bin may not have been emptied if it:
- was not out for collection before to 6:00am on the collection day
- was overfull (the bin lid must be closed flat)
- was overweight (bins must not be heavier than 70 kilograms)
- contained ineligible items for kerbside collection, including:
- building materials
- soil or rocks
- oil or paint
- large batteries
- gas bottles
- chemicals or pesticides
- tree stumps
- general or garden waste in the recycling bin
- general waste in the green waste bin
- rubbish placed on top of or next to the bin will not be collected.
You will need to remove the bin from the kerb, remove all ineligible or excess items, then place the bin out as normal, on your next scheduled collection date.
Waste collection vehicles are fitted with GPS trackers and cameras. The drivers use these devices to record why a bin has not been emptied.
If your bin was not emptied on your scheduled collection day and it did not contain ineligible items or was overfull, please leave your bin on the kerb for an additional 24 hours as there may have been operational issues preventing its collection.
If your bin still is not emptied after this time, please lodge a missed bin collection request. Please lodge any missed bin collection requests within 5 days of your usual collection date.
You can lodge a missed bin collection request:
- online, or
- by calling Council on 07 3412 3412.
After you lodge a request put your bin out immediately and leave it out until it is emptied.
Note: Fees and charges may apply for a second collection if the original non-collection was due to the presence of ineligible items or the bin was overweight or overfull.
