Teenagers can build power banks in a basic electronics workshop with City of Logan-based social enterprise PowerWells.

The company creates affordable energy from repurposed batteries to assist remote communities in developing countries.

Their latest project involved the provision of 320 solar battery systems to homes and health centres on the Indonesian island of Sumba.

The PowerWells session for children aged 11 and over will cover electronics, circuits and recycling electronic waste.

Commercial worm farmer, educator and author Brian Donaldson, known as The Worm Man, will run worm farm workshops for primary school children.

He will show participants how to create a mini worm farm to take home complete with live worms.

Other free, fun events and activities to be hosted by the libraries include:

• Choose your own adventure or interactive story writing sessions
• Djembe drumming workshops
• Robotics and coding sessions
• Monster cartooning workshops
• What's the Buzz about Bees sessions
• Holiday crafts

Bookings are essential for all sessions and can be made via Logan Libraries. 

Lifestyle Chair Councillor Tony Hall said the full Logan Libraries program would help keep holiday boredom at bay.

“Along with all the wonderful activities on offer children and teens can also collect a free take home activity pack filled with craft materials and ideas,” Cr Hall said.

“We also encourage families to visit our libraries during the holidays and spend time together borrowing free library resources such as books, movies and robotics kits ideal for all ages.”
