Teen finds new friends through KRANK holiday activities
A place to learn extra skills and make new friends is how Shailer Park student Jai Godbold views the City of Logan’s popular KRANK School Holiday Program.
The 16-year-old has taken part in volleyball, cooking lessons and a games and sports night.
He also learnt first aid and barista skills through KRANK which runs each school holidays for children and teens aged 5 to 17 years.
Jai said he was not sure about taking part in KRANK at first but now regarded it as a way to meet new people and enjoy fun activities each school holidays.
He encouraged other teens to try it.
“You need to get out of the house and learn different things. It is fun,” he said.
The next KRANK program is between Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, October 1 and features more than 200 free and low-cost activities.
Bookings open at 9am on Monday, September 4.
Lifestyle Chair Councillor Tony Hall said KRANK gives local students the chance to try new activities and enjoy their holiday break.
“We recently added almost 40 additional activities to the program so I encourage everyone to check out what is on offer,” Cr Hall said.
Activities include kayaking, outdoor laser tag, pottery, martial arts, go karting and cultural storytelling.
