Major Roads Projects

Council carries out a program of major road projects in addition to regular maintenance works. Listed below are those projects scheduled for construction in 2012:

  • Gilmore Road, Berrinba - Road upgrade west of Third Avenue. Includes replacement of existing culverts to notably increase capacity. Allocation is $2.7 Million
  • California Creek Road, Cornubia - Completion of the culvert upgrade and roundabout at the California Creek Road and Carbrook Road intersection. Construction on this project commenced in 2011 and is anticipated to cost $2.7 million.
  • Goodna Road and Ison Road intersection (including Edwards Bridge replacement) - Construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Goodna Road and Ison Road intersection. In conjunction, Council will replace the existing Edwards Bridge to address load limitations. Project allocation: $4.0 million 
  • Berrinba Link Road - Construction of a new road link from Gilmore Road to Wembley Road 450m east of Bardon Road. This work will subsequently tie in with the construction of four lanes on Wembley Road from Bardon Road to Berrinba Link Road. Project allocation: $5.4 million
  • Magnesium Drive Extension - It is Council's intention to extend Magnesium Drive through Green Road. This connection will be completed in two (2) stages. The first stage is anticipated to be completed in 2012 extending halfway to Green Road. The second stage is reliant on land requirements. Project allocation: $3.0 million
  • Stoney Camp Road, Greenbank - Upgrade to Stoney Camp Road, Greenbank is occurring under Council's road pavement rehabilitation program. This 4km section of road had deteriorated to an extent that a full reconstruction of the road pavement was necessary. The pavement rehabilitation will see widening of the pavement to enhance safety and construction of table claims necessary for future pavement protection. Project allocation: $4.0 million.
  •  North Road, Logan Village - Major pavement replacement is occurring in North Road, Logan Village. The project will see the complete replacement of the failed road pavement. Project allocation: $430,000
  • Greenbank School Carpark - Council is to upgrade the parent carpark at the Greenbank State School including the construction of a roundabout at the entrance from Goodna Road. The works are being targeted to commence at the end of term 1, 2012 and will extend through term 2, possibly into term 3, depending on weather. The works are anticipated to cost $750,000 with the State Government contributing $300,000 to the overall project.
  • Oak Street Master Drainage (Stage 1), Shailer Park - Upgrade to stormwater drainage system in Trinette Street and the sag in Upper Lyndale Street, Shailer Park. Project allocation: $2.3 million
  • Nodosa Street Master Drainage, Shailer Park - Upgrade to stormwater drainage system in Plantain Road, Cooba Court and Nodosa Street in Shailer Park. This work has commenced with a project allocation of: $800,000
  • Johnson Road /Stapylton Road Intersection - Logan City Council, in conjunction with Brisbane City Council, have been progressing the design of Johnson Road and Stapylton Road intersection. This design work is being completed for the provision of upgrade works in future years to address capacity issues.

Beenleigh Inner Ring Road

Council has already completed upgrade to the James Street and Zander Street intersection to facilitate the Beenleigh Inner Ring Road.

Edwards Bridge

Underwood Road Traffic Management Plan

Council's plan to address identified safety issues, both pedestrian and vehicle traffic along the section of Underwood Road at Rochedale South.
