Water Supply Arrangements from 1 July 2012
Logan City Council has voted to resume direct control of water and sewerage services in Logan, with the new arrangements to begin from 1 July 2012.
This decision will ensure improved services for our water consumers but will not mean lower water prices as Council has no control over the cost of bulk water, which is set by the state government.
The South-East Queensland Water (Distribution and Retail Restructuring) and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2012 clearly states that Gold Coast City Council will be liable for any costs associated with the disestablishment of the Allconnex business and re-establishing water under Logan City Council's control.
Council is looking forward to welcoming back former Logan Water staff and hope this decision will bring certainty after several years of change.
Council has also resolved to continue to support a sub-regional approach for providing water and sewerage infrastructure in Logan, Gold Coast and Redland as a means of providing better value for ratepayers in these capital works.
