The Watch Out Waste program is a free environmental education program for Logan City schools and community groups.

Schools

The Watch Out Waste program includes hands-on activities that are age appropriate.Teachers receive free resources and student worksheets.

The program includes tailored in-class presentations, which range from 30 minutes to one hour based on the following topics:

  • Waste & Recycling
  • Smart Shopping
  • Nature’s Recyclers
  • Litter
  • Think Food – Rethink Waste (NEW)
  • SmartTiP Tours:  Each school is entitled to a full day’s use of one 60 seater bus per year, free of charge to visit the SmartTiP for a presentation and behind-the-scenes tour. Tours last for two hours and schools can book multiple tours within the day.

Places are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Community Groups

The Watch Out Waste program is also offered to community groups in Logan City.

The program includes tailored community group presentations on the following topics:

  • Waste & Recycling
  • Worm Farming and Composting
  • Think Food – Rethink Waste (NEW)
  • SmartTiP Tours: Community groups can also go on a FREE bus tour of the Logan SmartTiP.  A free 60-seater bus will deliver participants to the SmartTiP where they will receive an informative presentation at ‘The Shack’ prior to going on a behind-the-scenes tour of the site including the working landfill and the Recycling Market.

If your group wishes to participate in a SmartTiP tour, one bus per organisation is available free of charge each year.  There is limited parking available on site. Tea and coffee are provided.
