History
The Lyons family lived in the Greenbank/New Beith region. William Lyons married local girl Alice Edwards in 1882. She already had one son, Frank, who was born in 1880. William and Alice had two more sons, Walter and Arthur, born in 1883 and 1885. All three boys attended the Greenbank school from 1895. The Lyons family were involved in dairying, timber getting and corn growing. In 1909, Arthur Junior married Harriet Colebrook. Their daughter, Doris, married well-known local Reg McTaggart in 1935.
In 1997, the name of Lyons was gazetted as a new suburb of Beaudesert Shire. In March 2008, it was transferred to Logan City as a result of local government amalgamations. Due to minimal tree clearing in the 19th and early-20thcenturies, parts of Lyons reverted back to bush land. Today the majority of Lyons remains wooded and undeveloped.
