History

Heritage Park was originally part of the suburb of Browns Plains. Scrubby Creek forms its northern boundary. It was once completely covered in dense bushland.

The Heritage Park area was originally settled by Joseph Shirley and William George. Their properties are both now part of the Browns Plains Waste and Recycling Facility. Shirley’s property was where the recycling market now stands, and George’s property was the current landfill site. The Logan Metro Indoor Sports and Events Centre is on the north east corner of this site.

By the 1970s, some tree clearing had occurred, but the area was still heavily timbered. In the late 1980s, residential development began. The rubbish tip opened on Browns Plains Road in 1982.

The developers of area originally called it Heritage Woods and requested the name be officially adopted in 1985. During 1988, the developers changed the name to Heritage Park and this was the name gazetted in October 1991
