CEO's Bulletin

Local Government elections throughout Queensland were held on 28 April 2012. Our previous Council was elected on March 15, 2008 to coincide with the expansion of our boundaries.  Their four year term as a Council concluded at those elections.

We now have our new Council for the 2012-2016 quadrennial term.

Our Mayor, Councillor Pam Parker, was elected unopposed, as were four of our Councillors - Councillors Graham Able, Cherie Dalley, Phil Pidgeon and Darren Power.

They join three Councillors who were re-elected - Councillors Russell Lutton, Luke Smith and Lisa Bradley.

Our new Council team is rounded out with 5 new Councillors - Councillor Don Petersen, formerly on Beaudesert Shire Council, and Councillors Steve Swenson, Laurie Smith, Trevina Schwarz & Jennie Breene.

Our new Councillors took their Declaration of Office on 14 May 2102.

They have an onerous workload immediately ahead of them with induction and then consideration and adoption of our 2012/13 Budget. This will be a challenging budget and budget process, as we have to include the re-integration of Logan Water back into Council's business.

I believe that over the past four years a solid foundation for the future of our city has been laid. We look forward to working with the newly elected Council as we build on those strong foundations and continue to focus on providing service excellence to our customers and communities.
