About Mayor Parker
As Logan City's first female Mayor, she is drawing on her long-term Council experience and rapport with the community to cater for the city's 261,000 residents and plan for the city's future.
Mayor Parker is dedicated to making the new Logan a city for families, lifestyle and business.
Mayor Parker was first elected as a Councillor in March 1997. The state government's amalgamation of Logan with northern Beaudesert and parts of the Gold Coast in March 2008 presented the opportunity to stand for Mayor. Mayor Parker won the election with 56.83% of the vote.
Logan City Council is now the sixth largest local government authority in Australia. It covers 960 square kilometres, spanning all or part of 63 suburbs and localities from south Brisbane to Beenleigh, Ipswich and northern Beaudesert.
Mayor Parker spent 20 years in the legal profession, local and state governments and small business.
She grew up as one of seven children in a single parent environment in a three-bedroom housing commission home.
She has been a lifetime volunteer for numerous community organisations, clubs, schools and charities.
Mayor Parker has been part of a team of elected representatives that has seen the transformation of Logan during the past 10 years. She is known for her strong, caring and inclusive community focus, for being hard working and getting the job done.
"I look forward to welcoming all new residents and will work with your councillor to ensure no area feels forgotten. Together we can achieve," Mayor Parker said.
She is married to George and has two adult daughters.
