Frequently asked questions

What do I do if my bin is damaged?

Contact us for it to be repaired or replaced. Your damaged bin will have to be placed on the footpath for the contractor but you can still put rubbish in it. It will either be repaired or removed (rubbish and all) within 2-3 business days of your contacting us. There is no charge for the repair or replacement of the bin.

What do I do if my bin goes missing?

Contact us for a replacement. Your replacement bin will be left on the footpath within 1-2 business days of your contacting us. There is no charge for the replacement bin.

What do I do if my bin doesn't get emptied on collection day?

Contact us to report the situation. If the bin was genuinely missed by the collection vehicle driver, the truck will be sent back to empty it at no charge. If, however, the bin was missed because of an act or omission on your part, the truck can only return after payment of a $15.00 (per missed bin) fee to Logan Waste Services. These acts of omissions may include not having the bin on the footpath by 6 am on the day of collection, presenting an overfull bin (the lid must be down flat) or presenting an overweight bin (the truck can only lift 70 kilograms).

Is it possible for me to get an additional bin?

Yes, but your options depend on whether you are a former Logan, Beaudesert or Gold Coast resident.

  • Former Logan and Beaudesert residents have two choices. The first is another 240 litre divided waste/recycling bin just like the one you have now. The cost of $75.00 per year is charged through the rates. The second choice is a 140 litre waste only bin which costs $45.00 per year and is also charged through the rates.
  • Former Gold Coast residents have four choices. These include a 140 litre waste bin ($162.00 per year), a 140 litre recycling bin ($52.00 per year), a 240 litre waste bin ($151.00 per year) or a 240 litre recycling bin ($52.00 per year). Again, these services are also charged through the rates.

As these services are charged through the rates, they can only be provided upon written application signed by the ratepayer for the property. You may request an additional wheelie bin.

What rubbish can I put in my bin?

Only materials produced as part of the day to day running of a household are acceptable in the waste section of the bin. Materials that should not be placed in the bin include builder's rubble, bricks, car motors and parts, hot ashes, liquid waste, chemicals and large tree branches.

What materials can I put in the recycling section of the bin?

Glass bottles and jars (no lids please), newspapers, cardboard, magazines, advertising brochures, phone books, juice and milk cartons, steel cans, aluminium cans, empty aerosol cans and plastic milk bottles, soft drink bottles, shampoo and detergent bottles (no lids please).

Items that should not be placed in the recycling section of the bin include ceramics, ovenware, syringes, disposable nappies, food scraps, light bulbs, plastic bulbs and garden waste.

Please refer to our A to Z list of recyclables.

When is my next kerbside clean up (bulky waste) service?

Please refer to kerbside collection.
